The Festival #writephoto

The Festival (141 Words)

The Festival of Shadows was a memory. And like a memory, it could be frightening.

The girl watched the spectacle of dancing monsters, the giant, the scavenger, a man and a child, all theatrically presented in exaggerated flare. Aasfresser, that was the name for the scavenger. Sekr, the giant. She did not remember the man’s name.

The child was the Question.

It was a recent memory, this one, but not so recent that the watching girl remembered it. She did not know what it would have been like, the sunless day and the last of the Hollow King’s magic that had destroyed so many lives. She could not imagine what it would be like if the darkness lasted forever.

That was what this memory was about. Darkness and light.

The little girl snuggled close to her parents and closed her eyes.

This flash fic is especially exciting for Wallie and I because it is related to a novel we (that is, I) have been working on.

Wallie says he is not to blame.

COMING TO AMAZON KINDLE, ETC., OCTOBER 2021

The publication date could be sooner. Imps are unpredictable.

Wallie and I will be sharing more information on our little book (code name–Apple Pie). Yes, the book has a code name. That’s because the title makes me too excited to say it.

This is the first time Wallie and I have ever considered self-publishing, so any advice would be more than welcome . πŸ™‚

Stay safe and well.

  1. A wonderful tale, Wallie and friend, and a very exciting announcement!
I hope you will consider coming over for a guest post to raise the profile of your book… and to promote it when it comes out. I would love to have you over…and that is a great cover!
