Merry Christmas

redflower

Christmas Day

The moon is shining in the sky
The stars are twinkling down
The frost is glistening on the grass
And on the rooftops ’round
And I am sitting in my bed
And thinking of the way
One night turned all nights upside down
And made this Christmas Day.

Savannah

Savannah (89 Words)

Intro by thunder: golden eve
To case live boughs made émeraude
In molten, sparkling filigree—
Above the rain swept roads of old.

True Life (46 Words)

Pictures on the wall my stand
Day and month and year

The memories we hold dear

So it is said
Lies a Valley of Shadows
The Land of the Dead.

Noise (84 Words)

The traffic starts
At six a.m.
At five o’ clock
It starts again
The noise and rush is no surprise
The world is quiet in your eyes.

To L–

To L–

How often is it said that life’s a dream
And we the leaf-light drifters in its wake
Who spin by winds on ripples made of “seems,”
The visions Heaven breathes for our soul’s sake:
A world caught in a water-drop we see
That shines for one brief moment like a star
Within this vale of mixed reality;

Going for a Walk

One of Wallie and my favorite poems.

Dreams from a Pilgrimage

I will see cherry blossoms today
dancing lightly in the April breeze
crenellated puffs of softest pink
jostling, welcoming, anticipating
meetings under the arch-browed branches:

where petals scamper round the feet
of once deplete, now wealthy hearts surfeit
with delight not won, but given
in sweet abandon from the Lord of heaven:

and sweet angel, I will think of you.

Lady Melodia

Lady Melodia (200 Words)

“Mom, why are we here?” said Katy.

“Hush, Katy.”

Katy was tired, carsick, and she just knew the hotel they were staying at wouldn’t have Wi-Fi. She couldn’t believe this was happening. Sure, the break-in at their house was unexpected, but this was an extreme response.

“I think it’s stupid,” she said, glaring at the green cliffs rolling by. “And whoever built the roads here needs their head chopped off.”
